Yvette is an Irish photographic artist from Sligo who lives and works in Dublin.
Yvette’s practice looks to further her understanding of three main ideas, namely intuition, transcendence and narrative. She engages with different processes in order to investigate these precepts, incorporating photography, drawing and print-making.
Yvette aims to create images that reflect the inner world and outer spaces.
In May 2019, she showed Beyond the ninth wave as part of The Invention of Memory exhibition curated by Julia Gelezlova at Rathfarnham Castle.
In 2019, The thousand year old boy was selected for the Open Call Forever//Now Format19. The work was shown in March at the FORMAT International Photography Festival, UK.
In 2018, Yvette was shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize and the piece was exhibited in the National Gallery.
In 2018, Yvette was also invited to create and contribute Octopolis for the 4th Winter Papers, Ireland’s annual anthology for the arts published by writer Kevin Barry and Olivia Smith.
In 2017, Yvette was invited to create and exhibit Beyond the ninth wave, for TULCA Ireland by curator Matt Packer alongside other artists including Yoko Ono and Bob Quinn.
In 2015, The thousand year old boy won the Gallery of Photography's Solas Ireland Award, which included exhibitions at the Gallery of Photography in Dublin and at Fotohof Gallery in Salzburg.
The thousand year old boy was then chosen to be exhibited as part of Belfast Exposed Futures, Peckham 24 at PhotoLondon, Photo 50 at the London Art Fair, New Irish Works and at VISUAL Carlow. It was also nominated for the Savills prize at the RHA VUE contemporary art fair and the Prix Pictet award 2016 SPACE.
Yvette won both the portfolio award at PhotoIreland and Slideluck Potshow in 2013 for her body of work The time of dreaming the world awake. The book dummy was nominated for the MACK first book award.
Consequently, she had a solo show at The Copper House Gallery as part of PhotoIreland 2014. This work has also been exhibited in the UK, the USA, Finland and France.
Yvette also self-published The time of dreaming the world awake as a monograph, it is currently on sale worldwide. The Gallery of Photography in Dublin nominated The time of dreaming the world awake for the 2015 Prix Pictet award DISORDER.
Yvette holds a MFA in Photography (2013) from the University of Ulster, Belfast and an MA in Geography and Economics (1999) from Trinity College Dublin.
In 2019, she completed a certificate in Drawing and Visual Investigation at NCAD.
